SRB2 was compiled by myself from the source code from Github on Manjaro 18.1.5 Juhraya.
Doesn't seem to happen with SRB2 for Windows, haven't tested with other ports/architectures.

Does not happen in srb2dd.exe
Maybe you know about this bug because it seems to be very old, but nobody has reported it yet. Can be reproduced in tight rooms, especially in Desolate Twilight Zone under the Scatter cliff room.
As you can see in this video below, Sonic jumps a lot higher than Knuckles using the shield even almost at the same height. For example, there's a gimmick in Desolate Twilight Zone where Sonic can access floating island with speed thok (easy method) or spindash (difficult one). But for Knuckles...

EDIT: It seems that it occurs with every solid thing like monitors, players, etc.
