Yeah, I might as well start this thread.

Why? Because I want to develop my skills as a pixel artist and show off some neat WIP stuff. (and I don't see that many texture or BG artists around here, mainly sprite artists :P).

To start off with, I made redrawn skies and I will continue to do that and at least finish what I started. I've also gained an eye for texturing, so I decided to start replacing SRB2's vanilla textures with my own artwork.

GFZ is lookin' good

Instead of having GFZROCKB be a bigger version of GFZROCK, I decided to make it more dynamic and have a slight graphical difference Act 2 style.

I do like how it looks but I'm not sure about calling it a "GFZ look". The colors are too different.
 
I do like the new THZ block you made but the thing that bothers me the most are the orange pipes. The coloring looks really weird making the texture look flatter than the vanilla texture in my opinion. I do like the new THZ sky that you made for the brief moments you can see it.

Tbh the pipes look like they're covered in mud now :/ and the pattern feels a bit repetitive, could use some work, I like the new GFZ Textures, though I feel like they no longer fit the Zone, might work as new textures for a new zone :)
 
Yeah, I wouldn't do that with the pipes either... I see where you were going with it by making it look a little corroded but it really doesn't work here. if you want that corroded metal looking feel to it, might I suggest doing something like this?

This is from TopDown and notice it still has that corroded feel to it by making some of the darker browns pop up in the lighter areas.

Beta release

Well, 6 out of the 7 zones are finished, complete with a ton of Textures to play around with, so I might as well release a beta.

"Why did you release it here instead of letting it go through the submissions system?"

I felt like it wasn't ready for the submission system yet, a lot of artwork aren't even finalized yet, and some even display graphical errors. So I'm releasing a beta here to get feedback and see what can be improved.

Future plans for this texture pack are as follows:

Start and Finish ERZ's textures (if that isn't obvious enough)

Polish ACZ and RVZ's textures (mainly RVZ since that consists of a bunch of lazy hue shifts)

Redraw some of DSZ's textures (holy shit some of these textures look horrendous)

You got rid of this wall texture (the one on the left)? Aw. I thought it looked great.

Also, about CEZ: The fence texture looks too "opaque" (I think that's the right word). It looks like a straight-up wall since it's hard to notice it's see-through now.
