Well, I have come across and idea. SRB2 has spanned over a whole 10 years and more. I feel since I have been an active player of SRB2 for so long, I feel that the gaming side of SRB2 needs a little light and a little history-book reference for itself. Something to look up to! I have yet to see an organized list of some of the most unfathomable players that we have come across (4ndy, FuriousFox, the obvious Mystic, SB, to name a few that I know.)

I want you to nominate some players, and tell me exactly why you feel that player should be nominated, for various reasons. You may include as many reasons as you can, and the player could even specialize in a certain thing. For example I specialize in CTF. (Always have) And I know Titanium specialized in Race.

I will, after getting a vast number of nominees, additionally let everyone discuss and see who they believe should be up there in the Top 10 list.

Aftr all is said and done, I will publish an article in this webside for all of us to see. Then we can have a history to look up to in our vast 10 year Development Hel- er I mean, amazing history here in Sonic Robo Blast 2! I also read in the guidelines that if it doesn't get on the main website it will still appear on a sub-site. All that matters is that we have it ready for us.

Been gone for a long while, got a "New" (It's two years old but like I said, haven't played in a while) laptop, and wanted to play this game again because I loved the Match and CTF modes. Well, for whatever reason, I run it real choppy whenever I enter a server.

I tried a little while ago to host my own server (Not listed on the MS), and it was fine. No choppiness.

Single player, fine.

I turn on FPS counter, 33-35/35 all the time.

I put resolution onto the lowest setting, still choppy.

Put SRB2 on "Above Normal" for priority in the processes. Dang near freezes my computer.

Even put all of the little graphic options down low, still choppy.

I dunno if anyone here might know, but may as well ask.

After reading Mystic's post "Four 2.1 tidbits", i think SOCEdit will be useless in the future versions, as there'll be a new type of script (LUA) that is 'better' than SOCs, but also harder. And certainly we'll have a "LUAedit" that can edit LUAs, but could/should edit too SOCs (because they're easier to edit than LUAs). The issues with some of the program's options (Edit Things, Edit Cutscenes...) are other factor that makes the SOC creation 'harder', leading to a higher number of LUAs created in the future (or not). The SOCEdit should/must not/will exist in SRB2 2.1.

If you noticed, there are some words in bold. Using the phrases with these words, you say your opinion about the SOCEdit in future versions (Example: The SOCEdit should/must not/will exist in SRB2 2.1). In any case, i think there should be only one type of scripts that includes both SOC and LUA.

If you want to make a claim on a particular level, send me a PM asking for it. But if multiple people ask to work on the same level, priority will go to people who originally suggested the idea and mappers with a good reputation.

The order zones are presented in here is also a suggested order for the final game. If there is a problem with this order, bring it up in the discussion thread.

Gravity Garden Zone act 1: Zap610

Gravity Garden Zone act 2: Whackjood

Gravity Garden Zone act 3: Badnik

(Gravity Garden now has custom badniks, find them in the 'information for soccers' section)

Cloudy Domain/Heavenly Tower act 1: Blade

Cloudy Domain/Heavenly Tower act 2: Spherallic

Cloudy Domain/Heavenly Tower act 3: free

Cryonic City/Frost Factory act 1: free

Cryonic City/Frost Factory act 2: free

Cryonic City/Frost Factory act 3: free

Honeyhive Zone act 1: Coatrack

Honeyhive Zone act 2: free

Honeyhive Zone act 3: free

Zany Ziggurat act 1: free

Zany Ziggurat act 2: free

Zany Ziggurat act 3: 742mph

Haunted House Zone act 1: free

Haunted House Zone act 2: free

Haunted House Zone act 3: free

Steam Engine Zone act 1: free

Steam Engine Zone act 2: free

Steam Engine Zone act 3: free

Remember, you will be asked to report what you have finished so far of your map at the end of the month. If you don’t provide evidence that you have been working on the map by the end of that week, then your claim on the level will be lost and someone else will be able to take your space.

Only claim act 3 if you intend on creating a custom boss. I may let people create boss levels using new arenas for old bosses in future if nobody steps up and tries to create a custom boss, but for now only try to claim act 3 on any zone if you intend on creating a new boss battle.

Even if you didn't get a claim on the level you wanted to work on, or you just have one or two great ideas for a level, you can still help out by explaining your idea in the discussion topic. Or, if you're submittion a new and original gimmick, an example wad in the submission topic would be ideal as well.
Feel free to create socs for any level that happens to need it, but bosses are going to need some intensive soccing and therefore have a higher priority to make sure they actually get finished. Levels that are currently being made also have a higher priority for socs

Socs that need to be made
Gravity Garden Zone: Enemy that functions like a turret, shoots a laser at the player which reverse gravity on contact.
dl.dropbox.com/u/27962790/turret.wad - WIP Turret, needs new art to reflect that it's a plant badnik and sometimes damages the player.

Enemy that works like coconuts from Sonic 2, throws a coconut which functions like a grenade ring
http://www.sendspace.com/file/yfaquq - WIP coconuts, needs new sprites and grenade rings need to explode after a short while instead of remaining forever.

SDURFs that jump in arcs, crossing the players path. Instead of jumping up and down on the spot.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/39649613/SoDURFTEST2.wad - Fully functional, but could use sprites for more than 2 angles.

When you have made a soc, you will need to post it in the suggestion thread for others to use. But just as importantly, it needs to be posted in the suggestion thread so other soccers won’t use the same slots as you.

Information for musicians

Spoiler:

An original soundtrack would be fantastic, but it isn’t essential. If you want to make a specific tune for a level and the designer already has a custom song in mind, remember that you will be competing against whatever custom song the designer has already picked.

Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the best games to hit the Wii. No, not just the Wii. It is one of the greatest works of art ever made.

The game is by Monolith Soft, the makers of Xenogears and XenoSaga. You're going to expect a high profile release with this game. Guess what? It delivered. It also manages to innovate Japanese Role-Playing Games with its fresh gameplay and design choices. JRPG have been known for being stale and Xenoblade seems to fix every problem. Huge open fields that are fully explorable? Check. Fast Traveling? Check. Able to change in-game time? Check.

The characters are so engaging and well thought out. You feel connected to each character with each cutscene. As the game goes on, the game pulls you in. I love how every character interacts and grows with each other.

The battle system is very fun. You gain an assortment of moves with the ability to run around while battling. It is pretty much real-time combat. It offers a lot of strategy to mess around with. While other RPGs have you grind, you will barely grind in this game. XP stocks up fast when you fight enemies higher than you and quests give a boatload of XP.

The soundtrack is magnificent. All the music tracks feel appropriate for their location and they all sound gorgeous. Xenoblade has one of the best soundtracks that a game has had in a while.

Really, you should get this game. I know it is for the Wii, but still. You need to try the game out. It has had over 55 critics with positive reviews. It stands as the #1 2012 game so far on Metacritic. Get it!

Gender Reassignment: Legit or Mutilation?

I once knew someone who wanted to have a gender reassignment operation, or a sex change.

This got me thinking- does such surgery really make you the opposite sex? Does such an operation make you a genuine man or woman? This is not a question about weather or not a surgery exists or works- it does- but if undergoing something like this can really make a person what they want to be.

And why wouldn't it make them a new man/woman? They've been given the necessary "equipment" to function like the new gender they want to be.

But you may argue that all this kind of operation does is mutilate your own body parts. You could argue that they don't function like a born man or woman's parts do.

Unfortunately, I don't think I know which I think of. This question just trips through my mind sometimes being indecisive on it I wanted to know others opinions.

Summer of Sonic is coming up again, this time on July the 7th at Brighton, instead of the usual London venue.

So far events are still being confirmed, but ticket releases are being staggered over time this year because of the demand and how quickly they went last year. As such, the first wave of bookings will be open on the 13th.

Anyway, I plan on attending this year and I'm wondering if anyone else from this community is doing the same so we can meet up and have a great time and other such silly things.

SRB2 single player collab zone theme voting

After a week of brainstorming and submitting different ideas, it’s time to decide which zone themes will make it into the pack and are worth working on. Although take note that are a few zones are missing because I decided that they would either be completely impossible to make or not appropriate for the level pack as a whole.

The voting will work as follows: each user is allowed to vote for up to seven maps, letting their voice be heard on how the level pack should be shaped, although you don’t have to use all seven votes, you could vote for any number of maps you choose, as long as it isn’t more than seven.

If you submitted a zone theme, you are allowed to vote on your theme but only do so in good taste and if you genuinely believe that your zone theme is one of the best themes submitted for the level pack.

Several of the zones suggested were updated after being initially posted, so I would suggest rereading the original topic before making any votes.

Voting will conclude at 12:00 GMT on the 13th

Black Water Zone + Searing Sea Zone

Cryonic City Zone + Frost Factory

Remember, if your zone isn’t accepted, then you can still take the ideas you had for your level and contribute them to the zones that were voted in at a later date, so don’t feel as though your ideas are going to waste.

I would appreciate it if this thread is used only for voting, and discussion about the collab itself remains in the original thread, so it is easier for me to tally the results in a weeks time.
